Arndt Residence and Artbarn

The Arndt Residence and Artbarn is located on a 5 acre estate among the grassy dunes of Cape Schanck, bordering the Mornington Peninsula National Park.

The existing structure was stripped to its double storey core and transformed into the Artbarn, a creative space for making, housing and displaying art.

As a sculptural counterpoint, the family residence was constructed using a simple, rural familiarity. A skillion roof shelters from the coastal environment, while also delightfully capturing the winters sun. Large sliding doors set into the subdued brickwork let in the dramatic landscape.

The considered use of brickwork, concrete and timberwork in their raw forms truly elevates the built environment.
