Hawthorn House

This substantial renovation and extension to a grand Victorian villa reimagines the home for contemporary multi-generational living. Working within the home’s generous proportions and ornate heritage detailing, the project balances refined luxury with warmth, restraint and highly crafted finishes.

Hand-finished timber elements, raw-edged stone, custom metalwork and bespoke joinery feature throughout the home, creating spaces that feel both sophisticated and deeply lived in. A reworked staircase with slim bronze detailing and an expanded skylight forms a striking centrepiece, while sculpted walls and sandstone-lined arches soften the scale of the original formal spaces.

Large pistachio steel French doors connect the living areas to the shaded loggia, landscaped gardens and re-paved pool surrounds, strengthening the relationship between indoors and out. Upstairs, lighter finishes and carefully selected stone bring calmness to the private retreats, studies and bathrooms, completing a home defined by craftsmanship, material richness and considered detail.
