Artbank
Formerly a tired warehouse in the heart of Collingwood, Artbank has been revived with new life. The site encompasses a showing space, vast storage facilities, quarantine areas for new pieces and a space for resident artists.
Suited to its laneway positioning and industrial surroundings, the conversion uses a less-is-more approach, where some original elements have remained to keep its original character. Dark, mild-steel wall-lining has been used to starkly contrast the crisp white walls that hero exhibited artworks.
The venue contributes to Melbourne’s cultural heartbeat; a public environment designed and refurbished to be enjoyed by many.
